Hi guys,
In this post I wanted to share with you my latest projects and particularly of making handmade things and gifts that you'll love to make, use and be proud of your achievement. It combines my love of natural dyeing with embroidery, and I worked hard in the last few months putting together a few beautiful and fully equipped kits to start you off on your own journey if you'd like to give it a go.
Have you ever wanted to make something beautiful with your own hands, something you can keep and use in your home or wear?
Try the relaxing and meditative art of hand embroidery, which can be accessible to anyone, it does not need to be complicated or take forever to complete a project.
The kits also make a thoughtful gift for someone this Christmas, or to yourself!
The folk motif inspired ‘Doves and mistletoe’ design is a lovely, and reasonably quick project. You can also trace this pattern onto anything else you might like to embellish.
You can choose your own colour scheme as well, no need to follow my colours.
You can make any of the featured embroideries with the complete kits available to purchase here: https://www.leafalkemy.co.uk
The designs are suitable for beginners and experienced stitchers alike.
The kits come with step-by-step instructions with pictures for each stitch, as well as video tutorials.
If you choose one of the napkins, you will receive a beautiful, naturally dyed piece of linen fabric with the design printed on it, ready for you to start.
If you decide to go for the cushion cover, you will receive a naturally dyed cushion cover in the colour of your choice, with the design pre-printed on it.
If you choose the table runner, you will receive a blank table runner in the colour of your choice (red or grey). The fabric is a beautifully woven cotton with a ridged texture. Because of this texture it is not possible to print the design directly on the fabric, so I traced it for you on a washable adhesive fabric, stuck to the table runner. You can embroider directly on this and when you finished, simply soak the fabric in lukewarm water, rub off the adhesive fabric, rinse and dry. All traces of it will have disappeared, leaving only your beautiful embroidery.
With all the kits you also get a 15cm (6 inch) embroidery hoop, DMC stranded cotton in the colours depicted in the design, and a Chenille needle.
Keep reading and looking at the lovely photos until you find the star - it will take you to your free gift.
